Privacy Policy
Last updated: 17 September 2026
PreBaby is a pregnancy tracker and journal for iPhone. What you write in it is the kind of thing you would tell one person, so this policy is written to be read, not to be survived. It explains exactly what is stored, where, and what you can do about it.
If anything here is unclear, write to support@prebabyapp.com and ask.
The short version
- You can use PreBaby without an account. In that mode, everything you enter stays on your phone and we never receive it.
- If you create an account, your pregnancy data is stored on our servers so it can be restored on a new phone and shared with people you invite.
- We show no advertising, we embed no advertising trackers, and we do not sell or share your data for marketing.
- Our product analytics record that you used a feature, never what you wrote.
- You can export everything and delete your account with its data from inside the app.
What is stored when you have no account
Everything, on your device only: the due date or last-period date you enter, your week, your mood and symptom entries, notes and journal entries, water, weight and sleep entries, kick counting sessions, contraction timings, photos you add, your lists (hospital bag, shopping, birth preferences, questions), baby-name favourites and letters you write to your baby.
None of that reaches us. It is not backed up by us, which also means that if you delete the app or lose the phone, it is gone — that is the trade-off of keeping it local.
What is stored when you sign in
If you choose to create an account, so that your pregnancy survives a lost phone or can be followed by your partner, we store:
- Your account: an email address, or the Apple ID relay address if you use Sign in with Apple, plus a securely hashed password if you signed up with email. We never see your Apple password.
- Your pregnancy data: the same entries listed above, so they can be synced and restored.
- Photos you add to your memory album, stored as private files that are only reachable through short-lived links generated for you.
- Sharing: the invitations and follow links you create, who accepted them, and what you allowed each person to see.
- Technical records needed to run a service safely: request logs with timestamps and error information. Health entries, notes, e-mail addresses and tokens are redacted from those logs.
Analytics: what we can and cannot see
We use Mixpanel to understand how the app is used — which screens people open, which features they reach, where a flow breaks. These events carry the type of thing that happened and coarse context such as the pregnancy week band, and a true/false flag for whether an entry had a note attached.
They never carry the content of your entries. Not the note text, not the mood you picked, not the weight you logged, not a photo. Product analytics cannot be used to read your diary, because the diary’s content is never sent to them.
Who else processes something
- Apple — the App Store download, in-app purchases and Sign in with Apple. Payments are handled entirely by Apple; we never receive your card details.
- RevenueCat — processes subscription status (active, expired, in trial) so the app knows what you have access to.
- Mixpanel — product analytics, as described above.
- Amazon SES — sends transactional email such as a password reset, when you ask for one.
Each of these receives only what it needs for that job.
Where your data is stored
Data belonging to an account is stored on server infrastructure operated for PreBaby, and photos are held in private object storage. For the current hosting location and the sub-processor details, write to support@prebabyapp.com and we will tell you.
How long it is kept
Account data is kept while your account exists. When you delete your account, the data is deleted with it, after a short grace period that the app tells you about before you confirm — the pause exists so an accidental deletion can be stopped, not so we can keep anything.
Your rights
You can, at any time:
- See and export everything you have written, from the profile screen in the app.
- Correct your details, including the dates your week is calculated from.
- Delete your account and its data, from the profile screen.
- Withdraw from analytics by turning it off in the app’s settings.
- Ask us anything about your data, or complain to your local data protection authority if you think we have handled it badly.
For requests that cannot be done in the app, write to support@prebabyapp.com from the address on the account.
Children
PreBaby is intended for adults tracking their own pregnancy, or people they invite. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
Health data, and what this app is not
The entries you keep in PreBaby are personal health information, and they are treated as the most sensitive thing in the app. But PreBaby itself is not a medical device: it does not diagnose, treat, monitor or warn about any condition, and its week-by-week content is general information whose measurements are averages. It is not a substitute for your midwife or doctor.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected or who processes it, the app will say so before the change applies to you. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
